Reflection

Let me start off by saying this was my first time ever doing a blog. I enjoyed every part of it and I am looking foward to doing this again in the near future. I had a lot of questions about my topic but, by doing this blog I found the answers to my questions.

Before I did this blog I was clueless about my topic "Breast Cancer". Then dealing with the fact that my aunt had it, I need answers to my questions. Because when my auntie had breast cancer i was very young and didn't understand what was going on at that time. So, for years I been searching for answers on how all this came about. Then when I was presented with the oppotunity to make a blog about anything you want, I decided to use my auntie's story with breast cancer. This way I could tell people my story dealing with breast cancer and to let people who known others with it or who have it that they are not alone. Then also to teach people that don't know anything about breast cancer.

From doing this blog I have really learned alot about my topic. I am really glad that I was able to this blog, this really helped me find the answers to my questions I had. Now I understand what happened to my auntie and when I think about her I wont be so clueless.

The History

Thirty-Five years ago 75 percent of women was diagnosed with breast cancer and they survived their disease at least five years. The only acceptable surgical for breast cancer option was Mastectomy. One random trail of mammograpy for breast cancer screening was conducted.

Breast cancer may be one of the oldest forms of cancers. The oldest description of cancer was discovered in Eygpt. For centuries, physicians described similar cases as practises, with the same conclusion. Until doctors achieved greater understanding about the circulatory system in the 17th century. Which caused them to find a link between breast cancer and lymph nodes. Jean Petit and Benjamin Bell were the first to remove the lymph nodes, breast cancer, and a under layer of muscle.

Personal Reflection

The reason I chose breast cancer is because, it's a very important topic. Its one of the reasons why our women is dying today.

My auntie died because of breast cancer some years ago. It really made a big impact on my life, because she was very close to me. I was very young and confused about what happened. Then when I asked a question, no one had an answer for me.

I was 13 years-old, when my auntie was dignosed with breast cancer. I was so lost about everything, at first I didn't think nothing of it. Then when I heard is was a deadly diease, I started to pantic. I didn't know how long she had to she past away. I can remember days, when she looks very energetic. Then other days, she looks like she was about to go at any minute.

The day she passed away, I heard my sister on the phone crying. So, I ran upstairs to see what was going on. The only thing she kept saying she is gone. Then I heard my mother and father walk through the door. I instantly ran back down stairs. My mother was asking me whats going on? I couldn't even say nothing at first. Then I came out and told her, that her sister just passed away. My mother practically fell out, when I told her. But, the wierdest thing was, that my mother just left, my auntie house. We all hurried up and got inside the car and drove back over there. We all just sat around mourning over her death, until the ambulance came and took her to the hospital.

WHAT I KNOW AND WHAT I WANT 2 KNOW ABOUT BREAST CANCER!!

From experience , i know a little about breast cancer because, my aunt had it. She was at the doctor's office every day, and she was always sick. She called my sister all the time, to take her to the hospital. One day the doctor told her, they would be able to save her, if they cut one of her breasts off.
Before the cancer got so bad, she didn't know she had it. A lot of people don't know they have it until get tested. Breast cancer is the number one killer of our black women, too. Breast cancer is not curable neither. Both men and women can get it. So, it's not only for females, because males have breats too, ours are not as big though.
I also don't know too much about breast cancer too. When I first encoutered breast cancer, I was so lost and confused, about everything. Things just happened so quickly, one minute she was alive. Then the next minute I was at her funeral. How can a person get breast cancer? Is it possible to get it due to geneitcs? How long can a person live with breast cancer? How would you know you have breast cancer? Is there a good chance, in the near future we will find a cure? Why is breat cancer more common in black women? Can teen have breast cancer?
